I have been working mostly with Microsoft products such as ASP and SQL. As I produced work for various clients, I realized that I needed to offer optional skill sets that would allow me to stay involved with my clients in an effort to increase the value they receive from their website.
Before I knew it I was working as a Search Engine Optimization Specialist (my own term) providing Whaley Production clients the ability to get and stay highly ranked with the engines. This can be a very time-consuming and sometime tedious process that requires work on not only the website itself (optimization), but the actual search engine submission process (submission) as well. Whaley Productions has acquired software that helps with some of this, but I refuse to use the general submission programs on the market as all search engines are unique and require information in different formats. The standard program just sends them all the same thing! BAD! This is one reason most well ranked websites have discovered the need to submit individually to the engines. It just makes sense.
Whaley Productions also offers Newsletter Services. While I do not write newsletter content, I do setup the necessary accounts, incorporate forms into the website to collect addresses, oversee the list management, and do the actual mailings.(or whatever combination the client requests!) I really enjoy this aspect of what I do and I love to see the list grow and the profits increase! A quick note...
Whaley Productions latest area of exploration has been marketing for websites. Through 2 years of looking, listening and sometimes buying everything I could find about marketing on the internet, I've discovered one very simple thing; Advertising for a website business is very similar to advertising for any brick and mortar business with a few twists! The end result is that you want possible clients to go to a website vs. a storefront. (sometimes it's both...) This is another of those very time-consuming and tedious processes, but the results can be dramatic!
